Cantor Fitzgerald named Kevin Quinn as a managing director, and will focus on securitized and structured product sales. Quinn joins from Wells Fargo Securities where he served as a director for Fixed Income Sales for mortgage and asset backed related securities. The also hired Paul Baeri as a managing director and will focus on distressed debt, leveraged loans, high yield and special situations. Baeri joins from Global Hunter Securities, LLC where he served as co-head of high yield and distressed sales.

H.C. Wainwright & Co. announced the addition of two senior professionals to further enhance its expertise in biotechnology equity research and capital markets. George B. Zavoico, Ph.D. joins HCW in equity research as Managing Director, Senior Biotechnology Analyst.  Prior to joining HCW, Dr. Zavoico was a Managing Director, Life Sciences Research Analyst at MLV & Co. and previously had been a Senior Life Sciences Research Analyst at Cantor Fitzgerald & Co.  Prior to becoming a sell-side analyst in 2003, Dr. Zavoico had a distinguished career in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry in consulting, competitive intelligence, regulatory affairs and medical and technical writing.  He has significant experience in basic scientific research and drug discovery in both academia and industry. John A. SEC Names Abero to Head Small Business Policy Office

The Securities and Exchange Commission has named Sebastian Gomez Abero as chief of the Office of Small Business Policy. The appointment is effective immediately. Mr. Gomez previously was a special counsel in the Office of Chief Counsel of the SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance, where he played a key role in drafting proposed rules to implement the crowdfunding provisions of the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act.
