Gottbetter Sentenced to 18 Months Prison, $4.5M in Fines, for Securities Fraud

The Department of Justice is getting tough on gatekeepers in the microcap industry, using wire taps to turn co-conspirators into confidential informants and secure guilty pleas and jail time. The latest is 46 year-old reverse merger lawyer Adam S. Gottbetter, who operated a law firm and placement agent specializing in alternative public offerings (APOs) of microcap stocks.

State Regulators File Suit in D.C. Appeals Court to Halt Reg A+

William Galvin, the Secretary of State for Massachusetts, has brought suit in the D.C. Court of Appeals to try to stop the Securities and Exchange Commission from implementing the Regulation A+ offering rules the agency approved in April and commencing the review of offering statements.

The Securities and Exchange Commission voted unanimously on May 6 to implement another component of the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act by approving final rules of the tick size pilot program, including expanding the program’s term from one to two years.
